Digital Twin and 3D Technology for Asset Management of Electric Power Facilities We define digital power generation and substation facility as 3D technology build digital-twin (creating a “twin” in cyberspace identical to a physical object). This proposal is to contribute to efficient work in project cycle (planning, construction designing, operation and maintenance) for power plants and substations through digital-twin. This technology can be applied to transmission and distribution facilities as well, but the generation facilities and substations are likely to benefit first as these facilities are about management of a cluster of equipment.
To be more exact, we aim to improve efficiency in all stages of operation, by visually managing the entire process. This is made possible by making a 3D model (point groups, 3D-CAD (BIM)) of the structure of equipment in generation and substation facilities. We will then link information of all equipment (such as manufacturer specification, local condition, equipment monitoring data) to 3D model data for each equipment unit.

SOLCON : Optimum Heating Control System for Turf Ground Systems for heating soil in soccer stadiums have been installed at more than 20 locations in western countries. These systems make use of pipes buried under the soil through which hot water is passed to warm up the soil. However, temperature controls that are suitable for good growth of turf have not been control command adopted, therefore, these systems have caused adverse effects on he growth of turf or have resulted in wastage of energy.
This system warms the soil by passing hot water through pipes buried 30 cm beneath the turf soil. Since shadows fall on the turf because of the roof, the field is divided into plural blocks referring to the shadow diagram in winter, and the schedule for passing hot water through each block is estimated by means of a computerized optimization control program. This program mainly makes use of the Finite Element Method (FEM), and is based on the soil temperature data and data of meteorological heating pipe measurements for each block. The system automatically passes hot water basd on the results calculated by the program.
In this way,the soil temperature at GL-5cm(which is considered the range in the soil that is very closely linked to the growth of the roots of the turf) is controlled the optimal. and As a result, Consumption of heating energy serves as the minimum.
